Grandpa's Pocketful of Stars

Theo wants his bad day to have just one good thing in it — until Grandpa starts pulling tiny “stars” out of his pocket.

About the story

Theo has had a bad day, and he's sure nothing good happened. So Grandpa Sam reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out something invisible: a star. His first one is the smell of pancakes that morning.

Theo thinks it's silly. But Grandpa keeps collecting — a dog's wagging tail, a stranger holding the door, sunlight on a wall — and Theo starts noticing too. Then comes a day when Grandpa is tired and quiet, and it's Theo's turn to reach into his own pocket.

A tender, gently funny family story about the small moments worth keeping, even on hard days.
