The Smallest Thing in the Garden
Milo wants to find the biggest, most important thing in Grandma June's garden — until a tiny bee shows him who's doing the biggest job of all.
About the story
Milo thinks the biggest things are always the most important. So when he visits Grandma June's backyard garden in Los Angeles, he goes hunting: the tallest sunflower, the largest pumpkin, the biggest orange on the tree.
Then Grandma asks a different question: “But what is doing the biggest job?” Milo checks the squirrel, the bird, the lizard. Meanwhile, one small bee keeps buzzing around his head. Instead of shooing it away, Milo follows it — flower to flower to flower — and starts to see how much of the garden depends on tiny visitors like Pip.
A playful, sunny story about noticing what's easy to overlook, and the planned flagship title of the Little Wonders Library.
