Nori and the Not-Quite-Perfect Kite

Nori wants to build the most beautiful kite at the festival — until her crooked, patched-up kite finds its own way into the sky.

About the story

Nori has a plan for the perfect kite, with elaborate sketches to prove it. Then the frame bends. The paper tears. One side ends up bigger than the other, and Nori patches it with scraps of mismatched colored paper.

At the neighborhood kite festival on a windy hill above Los Angeles, her kite looks nothing like the shiny store-bought ones, including her friend Mateo's. But when the wind picks up, Nori makes a few adjustments, and her patched kite catches the breeze at an unexpected angle.

An energetic, tactile story about perfectionism, persistence, and making something that's truly yours.
